The World Usability Day was initiated in 2005 as a worldwide initiative of the Usability Professionals' Association (UPA) and annually takes place every second Thursday of November with more than 200 events in 43 countries.
Eight presentations on different views on usability created the framework of the event in Paderborn. The breaks were used for vivid discussions by the 63 participants and a tour consisting of a poster exhibition of students' theses, dissertation plans and also a presentation of the multi-touch-Table (useTable).
Through experience reports of economy and research, a look into the interdisciplinary nature of the topic usability was made possible.
The effects of social change on the social web and the challenges of User Experienced Designs in companies were some of the discussed topics. Furthermore, the establishment of accessibility in software products, new interaction possibilities with mobile devices and multi-touch technology were discussed.
